Why we started Leesa
Like so many people, the entrepreneurs behind Leesa had trouble sleeping. We bought beds offering all sorts of benefits, from coils to memory foam - nothing worked. What’s more, the experience of trying out mattresses in showrooms with salesmen peering down on us was horrible. None of the features actually helped us sleep better – probably because most of them were hocus-pocus.
We approached a friend and long-time industry veteran and asked, “If you could redesign the mattress and reinvent the sleep experience, what would you do?” His response was “I’d simplify it and take out all the “stuff” we’ve been adding for years to justify higher prices.”
From this idea, Leesa was born. The Leesa mattress is a completely redesigned mattress offering what we call a Universal Adaptive Feel™ that adapts to all body shapes and sizes and all sleeping styles. This is particularly useful for couples as each side adapts differently to each partner. Our mattress friend who developed our mattress became our co-founder so we combine years of entrepreneurial experience with deep industry knowledge.
The online store has been designed with the same eye to simplicity as our mattress. Since we’ve avoided the awkward showroom experience, we also have a lower cost structure. You’ll see that in our prices. We believe you’ll find our pricing simple and transparent.
We put a lot of time and effort into selecting the combination of materials used inside your Leesa. Each layer of foam is carefully selected to provide core strength, memory foam pressure relief as well as cooling and bounce.
Leesa mattresses are compressed, boxed and shipped for convenience to your home. It sounds crazy, but it works, and the compression process actually improves the life of the mattress. We set out determined to be American-made, and we’ve proudly achieved our goal.

Meet the team
Co-Founder & CEO
David is driven by his passion for his family, his friends, and his work. He expects a lot of himself and of others, which has been the driving force behind his success. David would say simply that he’s been lucky to work with great people doing what he loves. He has helped bring new ideas to life, from his early days as a strategy consultant to the start of his entrepreneurial journey more than twenty years ago. He travels the world in pursuit of his passion, and it’s not unusual to find him cycling through the desert in Israel with one of his daughters one week and in a business meeting in London the next. David describes Leesa as a combination of a great idea, a strong management team, a world-class product, and the best business model he has ever been involved in.
Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer
Jamie is a family man who loves mattresses. Or maybe it’s the other way around! He’s been dedicated to both for a long time. 28 years in fact. Having designed mattresses for years, Jamie rose to the challenge of creating a completely new mattress that offered an extraordinary sleep experience in a “shippable form” for a fraction of the price of similar mattresses sold in mattress stores. After years in a family mattress business Jamie is thriving among the young Leesa team. Jamie famously once asked the team “what’s an influencer?” Having built Leesa predominantly through on-line word-of-mouth sharing, Jamie gets it now – even if the team still has fun at his expense from time-to-time. After all, he is our elder statesman.
All great businesses need someone who loves the day-to-day operations. Leesa has Anthony. He has honed is organisational and operational skills working in aviation, utilities, finance, fast moving consumer goods and business consultancy, launching new products and managing large multi million pound contracts. Anthony’s passion is putting all of the pieces and systems in place that allow a business to operate at its full potential. You will find Anthony on his road bike when not spending time with his two boys.
Cosmina is the lead developer at Leesa. With an MSc from Salford University, Cosmina has a love for the Manchester tech community and she is always keen to grasp new opportunities and challenges. She has played a key role in building unique applications that range from social apps to scalable web platforms and she has experience in a multitude of programming languages. Cosmina is a creative developer, so her free time consists of lots of photography trips exploring places outdoors, checking the latest art exhibitions or ice skating early in the morning.
Craig has spent the last decade developing marketing solutions for some of the UK’s leading Health, Fitness and Retail brands. With the rare combination of a passion for technology, an analytical mindset, and a creative spark – Craig is always looking for new and innovative ways to understand customers and reach them in the moments that matter. When he isn’t planning, implementing and analysing marketing projects for Leesa UK, you can find Craig challenging himself to improve his 10k time, relaxing in the Peak District, or spending quality time with close friends and family.
A Bsc graduate in International Business with Spanish from Aston University, David has the confidence and aspirations to help take Leesa forward in the UK market through his enthusiastic approach to presenting the Leesa story. David is a big "people person" who enjoys working in the team environment of the Leesa office as much as the team environment whilst playing for his local football team on a Sunday.
